Cozumel Real Estate Market Introduction:

Cozumel is an island community located in the middle portion of the Riviera Maya in the Caribbean Sea. Part of the state of Quintana Roo, it is the largest Atlantic Side island in the country of Mexico. The width of Cozumel is about 15 miles wide east west and approximately 30 miles long, south north. San Miguel de Cozumel is the main town of the island and is located on the leeward side (West Side). It is about a 30 minute ferry ride from the mainland docking at Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo which is approximately 12 miles of distance. The population of Cozumel is nearly 72,000 of which nearly 95% live in San Miguel.

 

An airport exists on the island which handles both national and international flights. In 2007 the passengers arriving to Cozumel jumped 31% from the previous year visitors. Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Calgary, Denver are several of the international direct flight departure sites.

 

These Cozumel oceanfront properties have unique, rocky edges where several developers have trucked in sand, and created unique waterfront sandy beach club areas with steps leading down into the Caribbean water.
